CA 25 Knight

Steve Knight (R) represents California’s 25th congressional district where over 107,000 individuals, including 35,000 children, receive their health care coverage through the state exchange for Obamacare (ACA) and Medicaid expansion. Yet he voted 7 out of 7 times for ACA repeal to take away their health care. Maybe he forgot 72,000 of them are eligible voters. Let us remind him by spelling it out for him – and painting him a picture.

CA-25 covers part of northern Los Angeles County and part of Ventura County. It includes the cities of Santa Clarita, Simi Valley, Palmdale, Lancaster, and the northern part of the San Fernando Valley.

In the Presidential race, Hillary Clinton won this district by 16.7 %(!). In the House race, Knight beat his opponent by 17,000 votes, helped in large part by some 30,000 Hillary voters crossing over.

A switch of 8,500 votes (half of 17,000) will defeat Knight in 2018. We can mobilize 102,000 Health Votes to defeat him.

  • 30,000 crossover Hillary votes
  • 27,000 ACA enrolled votes
  • 45,000 Medicaid Expansion votes
  • Total Health Vote: 102,000

With 102,000 Health Votes versus the 8.500 needed to defeat him, Knight’s Vulnerability Ratio is 12.0 (extremely vulnerable).

ACT NOW, BEFORE HE VOTES AGAIN. Tweet, Post on his Facebook page, Call, Fax, Write or E-mail Rep. Knight NOW.

Cut-and-paste suggested letter/email/Fax (personalizing helps):

Dear Honorable Representative Knight:

Congratulations on your recent election victory by a margin of 17,000 votes.

I am writing to you out of concern about your position on the Affordable Care Act.

If you vote to repeal the ACA, you will be jeopardizing the health and finances of over 107,000 of your constituents, including 35,000 children.

If compassion for their lives doesn’t sway you, let me remind you that 72,000 of these individuals are eligible voters. Combined with the 30,000 Hillary voters who crossed over to vote for you – and who strongly support Obamacare – 102,000 Health Votes may be mobilized against you, come 2018.

We hope you will do the right thing by your constituents and be a voice for their ongoing health and financial well-being by voting against ACA repeal.

Sincerely,

(Your name here)
