NE 02 Bacon

Don Bacon (R) represents Nebraska’s 2nd congressional district where over 29,000 individuals receive their health care coverage through Obamacare (ACA). Had Nebraska opted for Medicaid expansion, another 37,000 would be covered in his district, including 18,000 children – the “coverage gap”.  Yet in January, he voted for ACA repeal to take away their health care. Maybe he forgot 48,000 of them are eligible voters. Let’s remind him by spelling it out for him – and painting him a picture.

NE-02 encompasses the core of the Omaha metropolitan area. It includes all of Douglas County, which includes Omaha, and the suburban areas of western Sarpy County.

In the Presidential race, Hillary Clinton lost this district by 2.2%. In the House race, Bacon beat his opponent by 4,000 votes.

A switch of 2,000 votes (half of 4,000) will defeat Bacon in 2018. We can mobilize 48,000 Health Votes to defeat him.

  • 29,000 ACA enrolled votes
  • 19,000 Medicaid coverage gap votes
  • Total Health Vote: 48,000

With 48,000 Health Votes versus the 2,000 needed to defeat him, Bacon’s Vulnerability Ratio is 24.0(totally vulnerable).

ACT NOW, BEFORE HE VOTES AGAIN. Tweet, Post to his Facebook page, Call, Fax, Write or E-mail Rep. Bacon NOW.

Cut-and-paste suggested letter (personalizing helps):

Dear Honorable Representative Bacon:

Congratulations on your recent election victory by a margin of 4,000 votes.

I am writing to you out of concern about your position on the Affordable Care Act.

If you vote to repeal the ACA, you will be jeopardizing the health and finances of over 66,000 of your constituents – 18,000 of them children.

If compassion for their lives doesn’t sway you, consider the fact that 48,000 of these individuals are eligible voters. These 48,000 Health Votes may be mobilized against you, come 2018.

We hope you will do the right thing by your constituents and be a voice for their ongoing health and financial well-being by voting against ACA repeal.

Sincerely,

(Your name here)
