Erik Paulsen (R) represents Minnesota’s 3rd congressional districtwhere over 46,000 individuals, including 11,000 children, receive their health care coverage through the state exchange for Obamacare (ACA) and Medicaid expansion. Yet he has voted 19 out of 19 times for ACA repeal to take away their health care. Maybe he forgot 35,000 of them are eligible voters. Let’s remind him by spelling it out for him – and painting him a picture.

MN-03 encompasses the suburbs of Hennepin County to the north, west, and south of Minneapolis, including Brooklyn Park, Coon Rapids, Bloomington, Eden Prairie, Edina, Maple Grove, Plymouth, Minnetrista, and Wayzata.

In the Presidential race, Hillary Clinton won this district by 9.4%. In the House race, Paulsen beat his opponent by 54,000 votes, helped in large part by some 45,000 Hillary voters crossing over.

A switch of 27,000 votes (half of 54,000) would defeat Paulsen in 2018. We can mobilize 80,000 Health Votes to defeat him.

The Health Vote coalition against Paulsen in his district comprises:

  • 45,000 crossover Hillary votes
  • 24,000 ACA/MNsure votes
  • 11,000 Medicaid Expansion votes
  • Total Health Vote: 80,000

With 80,000 Health Votes versus the 27,000 needed to defeat him, Paulsen’s Vulnerability Ratio is 3.0 (highly vulnerable).

ACT NOW, BEFORE HE VOTES AGAIN. Tweet, Post to hi Facebook Page, Call, Fax, Write or E-mail Rep. Paulsen NOW.

Cut-and-paste suggested letter/email/Fax (personalizing helps):

Dear Honorable Representative Paulsen:

Congratulations on your recent election victory by a margin of 54,000 votes.

I am writing to you out of concern about your position on the Affordable Care Act.

If you vote to repeal the ACA, you will be jeopardizing the health and finances of over 46,000 of your constituents, including 11,000 children.

If compassion for their lives doesn’t sway you, let me remind you that 35,000 of these individuals are eligible voters. Combined with the 45,000 Hillary voters who crossed over to vote for you – and who strongly support Obamacare – 80,000 Health Votes may be mobilized against you, come 2018.

We hope you will do the right thing by your constituents and be a voice for their ongoing health and financial well-being by voting against ACA repeal.

Sincerely,

(Your name here)
