MN 02 Lewis

MN 02 Lewis

Jason Lewis (R) represents Minnesota’s 2nd congressional district where over 46,000 individuals, including 11,000 children, receive their health care coverage through the state exchange for Obamacare (ACA) and Medicaid expansion. Yet he voted in January for ACA repeal to take away their health care. Maybe he forgot 35,000 of them are eligible voters. Let’s remind him by spelling it out for him – and painting him a picture.

MN-02 encompasses the south Twin Cities metro area and contains all of Scott, Dakota, Goodhue, and Wabasha counties. It also contains part of northern and eastern Rice County including Northfield, and southern Washington County including Cottage Grove. Burnsville and Eagan are the largest cities in the district.

In the Presidential race, Hillary Clinton lost this district by 1.2%. In the House race, Lewis beat his opponent by 7,000 votes, helped in large part by some 1,000 Hillary voters crossing over.

A switch of 3,500 votes (half of 7,000) would defeat Lewis in 2018.  We can mobilize 36,000 Health Votes to defeat him.

The Health Vote coalition against Lewis in his district comprises:

  • 1,000 crossover Hillary votes
  • 24,000 ACA/MNsure votes
  • 11,000 Medicaid Expansion votes
  • Total Health Vote: 36,000

With 36,000 Health Votes versus the 4,000 needed to defeat him, Lewis’s Vulnerability Ratio is 10.4 (extremely vulnerable).

ACT NOW, BEFORE HE VOTES AGAIN. Tweet, Post to his Facebook Page, Call, Fax, Write or E-mail Rep. Lewis NOW.

Cut-and-paste suggested letter/email/Fax (personalizing helps):

Dear Honorable Representative Lewis:

Congratulations on your recent election victory by a margin of 7,000 votes.

I am writing to you out of concern about your position on the Affordable Care Act.

If you vote to repeal the ACA, you will be jeopardizing the health and finances of over 46,000 of your constituents, including 11,000 children.

If compassion for their lives doesn’t sway you, let me remind you that 35,000 of these individuals are eligible voters. Combined with the 1,000 Hillary voters who crossed over to vote for you – and who strongly support Obamacare – 36,000 Health Votes may be mobilized against you, come 2018.

We hope you will do the right thing by your constituents and be a voice for their ongoing health and financial well-being by voting against ACA repeal.

Sincerely,

(Your name here)
