IL 06 Roskam
Peter Roskam (R) represents the 6th congressional district of Illinois where over 54,000 individuals, including 13,000 children, receive their health care coverage through Obamacare (ACA) and Medicaid expansion. Yet he voted 18 out of 18 times for ACA repeal to take away their health care. Maybe she forgot 41,000 of them are eligible voters. Let’s remind him by spelling it out for him – and painting him a picture.
IL-06 encompasses parts of Cook, DuPage, Lake, Kane and McHenry counties.
In the Presidential race, Hillary Clinton won this district by 7%. In the House race, Roskam beat his opponent by 65,000 votes, helped in large part by some 45,000 Hillary voters crossing over.
A switch of 32,500 votes (half of 65,000) will defeat Roskam in 2018. We can mobilize 86,000 Health Votes to defeat him.
- 45,000 crossover Hillary votes
- 27,000 ACA enrolled votes
- 14,000 Medicaid Expansion votes
- Total Health Vote: 86,000
With 86,000 Health Votes versus the 32.500 needed to defeat him, Roskam’s Vulnerability Ratio is 2.7 (highly vulnerable).

Cut-and-paste suggested letter (personalizing helps):
Dear Honorable Representative Roskam:
Congratulations on your recent election victory by a margin of 65,000 votes.
I am writing to you out of concern about your position on the Affordable Care Act.
If you vote to repeal the ACA, you will be jeopardizing the health and finances of over 54,000 of your constituents – 13,000 of them children.
If compassion for their lives doesn’t sway you, consider the fact that 41,000 of these individuals are eligible voters. Combined with the 45,000 Hillary voters who crossed over to vote for you – and who strongly support Obamacare – 86,000 Health Votes may be mobilized against you, come 2018.
We hope you will do the right thing by your constituents and be a voice for their ongoing health and financial well-being by voting against ACA repeal.
Sincerely,
(Your name here)
