Carlos Curbelo (R) represents Florida’s 26th Congressional District  where over 102,000 individuals receive their health care coverage through Obamacare (ACA). Had Florida opted for Medicaid expansion, another 75,000 would be covered, including 35,000 children. Yet he voted 7 out of 7 times for ACA repeal to take away their health care. Maybe he forgot 142,000 of them are eligible voters. Let’s remind him by spelling it out for him – and painting him a picture.

FL-26 is located in far South Florida encompassing all of Monroe County as well as a portion of south-west Miami-Dade County.  Key West and the Everglades National Park are well-known places in the district.

In the Presidential race, Hillary Clinton won this district by 16.1%. In the House race, Curbelo beat his opponent by 33,000 votes, helped in large part by some 38,000 Hillary voters crossing over.

A switch of 16,500 votes (half of 33,000) will defeat Curbelo in 2018. We can mobilize 180,000 Health Votes to defeat him.

  • 38,000 crossover Hillary votes
  • 102,000 ACA enrolled votes
  • 40,000 Medicaid Expansion votes
  • Total Health Vote: 180,000

With 180,000 Health Votes versus the 16.500 needed to defeat him, Curbelo’s Vulnerability Ratio is 10.9 (extremely vulnerable).

Cut-and-paste suggested letter (personalizing helps):

Dear Honorable Representative Curbelo:

Congratulations on your recent election victory by a margin of 33,000 votes.

I am writing to you out of concern about your position on the Affordable Care Act.

If you vote to repeal the ACA, you will be jeopardizing the health and finances of over 177,000 of your constituents – 35,000 of them children.

If compassion for their lives doesn’t sway you, consider the fact that 142,000 of these individuals are eligible voters. Combined with the 38,000 Hillary voters who crossed over to vote for you – and who strongly support Obamacare – 180,000 Health Votes may be mobilized against you, come 2018.

We hope you will do the right thing by your constituents and be a voice for their ongoing health and financial well-being by voting against ACA repeal.

Sincerely,

(Your name here)
