CA 48 Rohrabacher

Dana Rohrabacher (R) represents California’s 48th congressional district where over 97,000 individuals, including 31,000 children, receive their health care coverage through the state exchange for Obamacare (ACA) and Medicaid expansion. Yet he voted 17 out of 17 times for ACA repeal to take away their health care. Maybe he forgot 66,000 of them are eligible voters. Let us remind him by spelling it out for him – and painting him a picture.

CA-48 is based in Orange County in Southern California. The district is centered on Huntington Beach. It includes Seal Beach, Sunset Beach, Huntington Beach, Midway City, parts of Westminster, Fountain Valley, parts of Santa Ana, Costa Mesa, Newport Beach, Aliso Viejo, Laguna Beach, and Laguna Niguel.

In the Presidential race, Hillary Clinton won this district by 1.7%. In the House race, Rohrabacher beat his opponent by 51,000 votes, helped in large part by some 28,000 Hillary voters crossing over.

A switch of 25,500 votes (half of 51,000) will defeat Rohrabacher in 2018.  We can mobilize 104,000 Health Votes to defeat him.

  • 28,000 crossover Hillary votes
  • 26,000 ACA enrolled votes
  • 40,000 Medicaid Expansion votes
  • Total Health Vote: 94,000

With 94,000 Health Votes versus the 25,500 needed to defeat him, Rohrabacher’s Vulnerability Ratio is 3.7 (extremely vulnerable).

ACT NOW, BEFORE HE VOTES AGAIN. Tweet, Post on Facebook, Call, Fax, Write or E-mail Rep. Rohrabacher NOW.

Cut-and-paste suggested letter/email/Fax (personalizing helps):

Dear Honorable Representative Rohrabacher:

Congratulations on your recent election victory by a margin of 51,000 votes.

I am writing to you out of concern about your position on the Affordable Care Act.

If you vote to repeal the ACA, you will be jeopardizing the health and finances of over 97,000 of your constituents, including 31,000 children.

If compassion for their lives doesn’t sway you, let me remind you that 66,000 of these individuals are eligible voters. Combined with the 28,000 Hillary voters who crossed over to vote for you – and who strongly support Obamacare – 94,000 Health Votes may be mobilized against you, come 2018.

We hope you will do the right thing by your constituents and be a voice for their ongoing health and financial well-being by voting against ACA repeal.

Sincerely,

(Your name here)
