CA 39 Royce
Ed Royce (R) represents California’s 39th congressional district where over 109,000 individuals, including 35,000 children, receive their health care coverage through the state exchange for Obamacare (ACA) and Medicaid expansion. Yet he voted 19 out of 19 times for ACA repeal to take away their health care. Maybe he forgot 74,000 of them are eligible voters. Let us remind him by spelling it out for him – and painting him a picture.
CA-39 encompasses parts of Los Angeles, Orange and San Bernardino counties, including the cities Fullerton, Brea, Buena Park, Anaheim Hills, Placentia, Yorba Linda, Diamond Bar, Chino Hills, Hacienda Heights and Rowland Heights.
In the Presidential race, Hillary Clinton won this district by 8.6%. In the House race, Royce beat his opponent by 38,000 votes, helped in large part by some 30,000 Hillary voters crossing over.
A switch of 19,000 votes (half of 38,000) will defeat Royce in 2018. We can mobilize 104,000 Health Votes to defeat him.
- 30,000 crossover Hillary votes
- 28,000 ACA enrolled votes
- 46,000 Medicaid Expansion votes
- Total Health Vote: 104,000
With 104,000 Health Votes versus the 19,000 needed to defeat him, Royce’s Vulnerability Ratio is 5.5 (extremely vulnerable).

Cut-and-paste suggested letter/email/Fax (personalizing helps):
Dear Honorable Representative Royce:
Congratulations on your recent election victory by a margin of 38,000 votes.
I am writing to you out of concern about your position on the Affordable Care Act.
If you vote to repeal the ACA, you will be jeopardizing the health and finances of over 109,000 of your constituents, including 35,000 children.
If compassion for their lives doesn’t sway you, let me remind you that 74,000 of these individuals are eligible voters. Combined with the 30,000 Hillary voters who crossed over to vote for you – and who strongly support Obamacare – 104,000 Health Votes may be mobilized against you, come 2018.
We hope you will do the right thing by your constituents and be a voice for their ongoing health and financial well-being by voting against ACA repeal.
Sincerely,
(Your name here)
