CA 21 Valadao

David Valadao (R) represents California’s 21st congressional district where over 135,000 individuals, including 44,000 children, receive their health care coverage through the state exchange for Obamacare (ACA) and Medicaid expansion. Yet he voted 12 out of 12 times for ACA repeal to take away their health care. Maybe he forgot 91,000 of them are eligible voters. Let us remind him by spelling it out for him – and painting him a picture.

CA-21 is centered in the San Joaquin Valley, and includes areas of Fresno County, Kern County, Kings County, and Tulare County. Cities in it include: Coalinga, Delano, Hanford, and outer parts of Bakersfield.

In the Presidential race, Hillary Clinton won this district by 15.5 %(!). In the House race, Valadao beat his opponent by 18,000 votes, helped in large part by some 19,000 Hillary voters crossing over.

A switch of 9,000 votes (half of 18,000) will defeat Valadao in 2018.  We can mobilize 102,000 Health Votes to defeat him.

  • 19,000 crossover Hillary votes
  • 33,000 ACA enrolled votes
  • 58,000 Medicaid Expansion votes
  • Total Health Vote: 110,000

With 110,000 Health Votes versus the 8.500 needed to defeat him, Valadao’s Vulnerability Ratio is 12.2 (extremely vulnerable).

ACT NOW, BEFORE HE VOTES AGAIN. Tweet, Post on his Facebook page, Call, Fax, Write or E-mail Rep. Valadao NOW.

Cut-and-paste suggested letter/email/Fax (personalizing helps):

Dear Honorable Representative Valadao:

Congratulations on your recent election victory by a margin of 18,000 votes.

I am writing to you out of concern about your position on the Affordable Care Act.

If you vote to repeal the ACA, you will be jeopardizing the health and finances of over 135,000 of your constituents, including 44,000 children.

If compassion for their lives doesn’t sway you, let me remind you that 91,000 of these individuals are eligible voters. Combined with the 19,000 Hillary voters who crossed over to vote for you – and who strongly support Obamacare – 110,000 Health Votes may be mobilized against you, come 2018.

We hope you will do the right thing by your constituents and be a voice for their ongoing health and financial well-being by voting against ACA repeal.

Sincerely,

(Your name here)
